Enhancing The Students’ Ability In Writing Rhymes With The Integrated Surah Al-Qalam Sort Card Method

This research is based on the lack of application of learning methods that are able to arouse students’ interest in learning, which causes a lack of student activity during learning activities. During the teaching and learning process, students did not have the courage to express their ideas and opinions. Therefore, this study aims to describe the improvement of rhyme-writing skills using the sort card method integrated with Surah Al-Qalam among Class VIIB students of SMP Negeri 4 Polewali. The subjects of this study were all Class VIIB students in the 2019/2020 academic year, totaling 31 students. The data collection techniques used in this study were tests, observations, and interviews, which were then analyzed using quantitative and qualitative methods. The results showed that students who were taught using the sort card method obtained an average score of 65.68 in the first cycle. After carrying out the learning process in Cycle II and correcting the errors that occurred in the first cycle, the students’ average score increased to 87.23. The integration of the values of Surah Al-Qalam, verses 1–4, with the sort card method also influenced students’ attitudes toward writing skills and increased their understanding of religious values, particularly the many benefits of writing, one of which is gaining continuous rewards through the creation of written works. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the sort card method significantly improves the rhyme-writing ability of Class VIIB students of SMP Negeri 4 Polewali.
